Irvington ADU

Our Irvington ADU project achieves a multi-generational yet fully independent living arrangement with style and comfort. With their children and grandchildren living in the main home, the homeowners enlisted Hammer & Hand, Polyphon Architecture & Design, and Introspecs to create an ADU in the backyard that matched the character of the existing 1927 home.

We hand-cut 88 rafter tails to match the profile of those on the existing historic home, but the exterior’s traditional character belies the bright, modern interior. Vaulted ceilings give the compact but comfortable space an airy, spacious feel while a mostly neutral palette with occasional bursts of color complements the homeowner’s vibrant art collection without competing.
