SHOP CARPENTER (Portland)

Hammer & Hand seeks an experienced shop carpenter to join our Portland, OR team.

About the position:

The position will include the milling of Historical High Performance/Passive House doors and windows (including Tilt Turn) and fabrication of architectural elements, furniture, and cabinetry.

Qualifications:

  • Approximately 5 years of woodshop experience
  • Ability to safely operate all standard woodworking machinery
  • Proficient at reading and working from architectural drawings and shop drawings accurately
  • Knowledge of different wood species, machining methods, and the tools involved in fabrication
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Strong work ethic, teamwork, self-motivation, problem solving
  • High level of accuracy and pride in your craft
  • Proof of Vaccination (or documented medical exemption)

Bonus Points:

  • Higher-end shaper experience
  • Forklift experience
  • Paint Booth/ Finishing experience

FRAME-TO-FINISH CARPENTER (Seattle or Portland)

Hammer & Hand seeks an experienced frame-to-finish carpenter to join our Seattle, WA or Portland, OR team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least 5 years of construction carpentry experience including framing, envelope, and trim install.
  • Experience with remodel and new build projects.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction of buildings or other structures.
  • Must be able to keep accurate records and perform timekeeping, including electronic submittals.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
  • Must have a full selection of tools to perform the work.

LEAD CARPENTER (Seattle)

Hammer & Hand seeks a driven frame-to-finish precision lead carpenter to join its Seattle team.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of construction and carpentry experience.
  • 2-5 years in an on-site project management role.
  • Experience with high-end remodel and new build projects.
  • Management of multiple trades such as plumbing, electric, HVAC, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with cutting-edge building practices and high performance building.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Self-motivated and able to motivate others.
