Big Chickie
Designed by Architecture Building Culture
Seattle general contractor Hammer & Hand and architect Architecture Building Culture transformed the long-shuttered Rudy’s Service Station in Hillman City into a new Peruvian eatery, Big Chickie. The team gutted the existing structure, brought it up to code, and added a new commercial kitchen to hold Big Chickie’s two charcoal rotisseries imported from Peru. Decorative details like warm cedar paneling and bold blue and yellow paint give the old service station a new personality. While the basic structure of the service station was maintained per the building owners’ request (in honor of their late father, Rudy), H&H built a new covered eating area to extend the space and create a fun and welcoming restaurant atmosphere.
