Three new pages about Karuna House describe its high performance systems

Foundation system, wall assembly, and windows & doors of Karuna House explained.

The Karuna House, designed by Holst Architecture and built by Hammer & Hand, is a prime example of when high performance building meets high design. But for all of the design pizzazz seen on the exterior, some of the most impressive (and important!) features are hidden behind-the-scenes in the high performance building systems.

To illuminate the “unsung heroes” of the Karuna House, we’ve published three new pages delving into the high performance building systems of the project.

Foundation System: Built on EPS geofoam, Karuna’s foundation plays a key role in the home’s performance. Learn more…

Wall Assembly: Super-insulated and airtight, Karuna’s wall system carefully manages heat, air & moisture. Learn more…

Windows & Doors: Karuna’s fenestration enables the house to meld high design with high performance. Learn more…

The pages on the foundation system, wall assembly, and windows & doors document the project team’s on-the-ground strategies to meet the home’s multiple certification goals – Passive House, LEED For Homes Platinum, Minergie-P ECO, and Net-Zero Energy. Enjoy!
