We’ve written here before about our own Sam Hagerman’s work as President of the national Passive House Alliance US. We’re also active in the Northwest’s homegrown Passive House organization, Passive House Northwest, most notably through our recent advocacy work around the Oregon Reach Code, but also as rank-and-file members.
Passive House Northwest (PHnw) will host its 2012 Spring Conference in Portland, Oregon on Friday, March 2 at Portland State University’s University Place. The educational conference will bring together 180 Passive House practitioners, designers, builders, green building aficionados, media, and members of the general public for a day of training and exchange. The event is co-sponsored by Energy Trust of Oregon and Hammer & Hand.
“This spring gathering serves as both a critically-important forum for the Northwest Passive House community as well as an unparalleled chance for those new to Passive House to learn about the standard and the promise it holds for the future of building practice and energy independence,” said Jim Burton, President of PHnw.
Conference highlights include:
- The Godfather of Green, renowned author and green building expert Jerry Yudelson and his keynote, “Climbing the Summit to Passive and Zero Energy Buildings!”
- Commercial real estate Investor Mark Jewell and REACH Executive Director Dee Walsh and their examination of the financial performance and affordability of Passive House.
- Monitoring results of Passive House building performance presented by scientists from PSU’s Green Building Research Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, WSU Extension Energy Program, and the Cold Climate Housing Research Center.
We’ll be sharing one of our Passive House projects as part of the 10×10 presentation and have got a passel of H&Hers going to the confab. We’d love to see you there!
