Mixed-use project shows that “green building” is for all income levels.

A low-income project featured by the blog Inhabitat.com showcases both sustainability and high design.

In keeping with yesterday’s Field Notes blog, “Study: energy efficient construction is affordable & brings quick payback”, here’s more evidence demonstrating that “green building” isn’t a luxury for the elite but can be accessible to all income levels.  The Sierra Bonita Apartments in West Hollywood (designed by Tighe Architecture) feature strong architectural gestures, innovative green features (including a bamboo grove in the inner courtyard for natural cooling), ground floor spaces for nonprofit agencies, and living units affordable to low-income families.
