Custom Live Edge Dining Table & Bench by H&H Woodshop

The clients of a recent H&H home remodeling project in NW Portland originally wanted a custom squared and straight-lined dining table and bench for their kitchen. But after H&H woodshop manager Dan Palmer saw the wood slabs they had chosen for the project, the idea of using live edges came up. “I happened to notice there were some cool features on both slabs that warranted leaving some of the organic shape in two specific locations,” said Dan. After discussing it with the client, who liked the idea, Dan got to work on the slabs.

Three sides of the tabletop and bench were straight-lined and one interesting organic detail on each piece was left to its natural shape, with a lot of hand sanding, buffing, and polishing by Dan. The result is a beautiful custom dining table with an elegant design and eye-catching organic details.
