When people think of doors it’s often the standard rectangular ones that come to mind. But what if something as simple as a door could transform the look or function of a home? These custom doors and door details are just a few examples of ways to get creative with our entrances.
Doors That Transform
The back doors on this home open up to connect the outdoor patio area with the indoor living space, letting in fresh air and expanding the space for indoor/outdoor parties in the summer.
French Doors
These beautiful glass French doors open up onto a back patio and let in lots of light. The doors and windows were added as part of this home remodel to give the space more light.
Creative Doors
Some doors are meant to be different. The shape of this dressing room door mirrors that of a camping trailer door, a perfect detail for this Portland, OR Danner Boots retail store. This custom door shows that you don’t have go status quo when it comes to your own home’s doors – feel free to get creative with the design!
Door Details
Hardware comes in all shapes and sizes – even as everyday objects! This door, part of our Portland office, features recycled hammers as the pull handles. These unique pulls add character and personality to the door while paying homage to the founding of our company.
Sliding Barn Doors
When it comes to separating rooms, sliding barn doors add a unique look to the space. These doors, installed in this new Northwest Modern home, give the home an airy and spacious feel when open and provides privacy and separation from the rest of the home when shut.
Dutch Style Doors
Custom-built for a Portland Southwest Hills home remodel by Hammer & Hand, this Dutch door is made of reclaimed wood and historic mortise-and-tenon jointery. The top port of the door can open while the bottom stays shut. This design is both beautiful and practical – it’s a perfect way to let in fresh air while keeping pets and small children inside.
Passive House Doors
When it comes to Passive House doors, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. These doors, built in Hammer & Hand’s woodshop, include a four-point locking mechanism and a poly-iso insulated core. For more on these high performance doors, check out this video.
