Hammer & Hand sponsors AIGA Portland’s installation event Blurred Lines at this year’s Design Week Portland.
We are excited to be a sponsor of AIGA Portland’s Blurred Lines, a curated exploration of the future of interaction, part of this year’s Design Week Portland.
Blurred Lines is a collection of interactive installations designed by some of the leading design studios in the Pacific Northwest, including Wieden+Kennedy, Postano, and Downstream. Focused around the challenges of interaction, these installations incorporate light, sound, motion, and history to explore how technology and physical spaces are impacting shared experiences.
We had a lot of fun assisting with the Blurred Lines event. In addition to donating funds for materials, we jumped at the chance to open up the Hammer & Hand wood shop to AIGA Portland volunteers and members to build pieces for the event.

As a traditional construction company, we collaborate with the design community to build beautiful and innovative spaces to live and work in. Many of us at Hammer & Hand also have art backgrounds, including one of our lead carpenters, Peter Bogart.
Peter, who holds a BA in Sculpture, donated over 50 hours of his time to help transform Refuge PDX for the Blurred Lines event. With the help of 20+ volunteers, Peter built many elements of the space, including 50 12-foot tall triangular columns designed by ZGF Architecture.

Don’t miss your chance to see the transformed space and experience these innovative and interactive installations created by the leading design studios in the Pacific Northwest. Tickets can be purchased through AIGA Portland. Blurred Lines is a 21+ event.
