We’re proud to announce that two Hammer and Hand projects will be featured on this year’s Build It Green! Home Tour, sponsored by the City of Portland. Both homes were designed by Departure Design and built by Hammer and Hand in close collaboration with clients as part of our design-build project development process.

Musician’s Dwelling
The first Hammer and Hand project on the tour is the Musician’s Dwelling (referred to as “Curtis Creative Small Infill” by the tour), a small-footprint home that integrates living space with an active studio for jazz, painting and videography. A garage flex space on the ground floor will function as a future accessory dwelling unit.
Twin Studios
Twin Studios (referred to as “Engstrom & Werlin Duplex Renovation” by the tour), our second featured project, is an exemplar of low-cost, high-value conversion of a marginal single family home to a beautiful green duplex. Building materials were reclaimed and repurposed throughout the building process, combining traditional detailing with a modern aesthetic.
Upcycled Furniture at After-Tour Fair
Hammer and Hand will feature select pieces from its upcycled furniture line (designed with bright designlab) at the after-tour fair at Ecohaus. Whether or not you take-in the tour, please come by to this free fair, see the cool furniture and say “hello”. We look forward to seeing you!
