Hammer & Hand ADU Featured by Major Canadian TV Network

Interest in our Accessory Dwelling Units kept our French connection alive today, with a visit by Canada’s TOU TV.

Last month we wrote here about a recent visit to Hammer & Hand by a pair of world-traveling French green building writers.  Well, we’re happy to report that interest in Hammer & Hand from our Francophone friends continues.  Today Sam Hagerman and I got the chance to show off the Wine Lover’s ADU garage conversion for a TV crew from the French-speaking Canadian TV Network, TOU TV.  They’re shooting for a feature program on the trend toward smaller houses, and contacted us last week after perusing photo galleries of our work.  They made their way to Portland from a shoot in Vancouver, BC, and will continue down to San Francisco to shoot there before returning home.

As I watched the session unfold, I thought I’d take a few shots to document the visit and share here in Field Notes…

The photo on the left shows Sam discussing the burgeoning ADU movement in Portland with the TV crew and Laura, the homeowner who graciously hosted us all.  In the center we see the shoot in action … btw, the crew had Sam, Laura, and the Canadian small home developer/host repeat the process of walking through the door three times.  On the right, Sam is being interviewed for the main content of the story.

This wide-angle shot shows the rear entry of the ADU on the right, with the cameraman on the left capturing “B roll” footage for the story.
