Super-Efficient ADU

This high-performance, detached Accessory Dwelling Unit in Portland's Concordia neighborhood is a model of both financial and environmental sustainability.  Built using Passive House principles and modeling, the home delivers big energy savings at a low cost.  The design, by Departure Design, incorporates smart use of windows to create a spacious, naturally-lit environment on a small footprint.  See this Field Notes blog post for more.
